Over the next two weeks (Jan. 2-16), 12 University of Maryland students will be interviewing several journalists from Slovakia and Hungary about the state of journalism in these Post-Soviet societies.

Although, that is definitely not all they will be doing! Yesterday everyone arrived in Bratislava and took an hour-long walking tour of part of the city, concluded with a 4-course Slovak dinner – filled with many interesting dishes that were subject to mixed reviews among the students and faculty.

Today, the class will meet with Professor Darina Malova of the Dept. of Political Science at Comenius University, Bratislava for a lecture followed by a discussion about the state of investigative journalism in Slovakia.

Check back for updates and pictures later this tonight!
